MB2 Air Sampler

Monitoring air quality through the collection of airborne bioaerosol contaminants

The MB2 Air Sampler collects airborne bioaerosol contaminants in both indoor and outdoor environments. Air is aspirated through a removable metal head (cover) which contains a series of 1 mm holes at a rate of 100 liters/min. The laminar air flow that is created by this design impels micro-organisms onto the agar surface of a 55 mm contact plate. After exposure to a fixed volume of air, the contact plate is removed and incubated at the required temperature. When the colonies are visible to the naked eye they are counted. The count, along with the volume of air sampled, is used to calculate the number of micro-organisms per cubic meter of air (CFU per cubic meter).

New: Sequential sampling enables a programmable volume of air to be sampled over an extended period of time. This is useful in clean room environments where contamination levels are normally low, resulting in low counts. Monitoring for short periods could risk missing potential hazards that may occur during the day. The MicroBio MB2 can now be set up and left to work autonomously, sequential sampling up to 10,000 litres over a 24 hour period.

2 heads, with 220 holes and 400 holes.

The 220 he sampling head is optimised for 55mm plates and larger. There is no air jet outside the capture area of a 55 mm plate. 90 mm plates with the 220 hole head will yield the same results.

The 400 hole sampling head is optimised for 90mm Petri dishes only. This option gives the best sensitivity and better for zones where large counts are possible. Again, air jets are all inside the agar area of the dish.

MicroBio MB2-HiFlow Bioaerosol Sampler

Sampling at 180 litres per minute.

Bioaerosol samplers are vital equipment for use wherever air hygiene is vital (bioaerosol research, clean rooms, pharmaceutical validation, food production and packaging, indoor air quality, HVAC and throughout hospitals and healthcare settings). The MicroBio MB2-HiFlow Bioaerosol Sampler has all the features MicroBio MB2 model, but with the added advantage of sampling at a rate of 180 litres per minute, nearly halving the time to take a sample. The time to sample a cubic meter of air is reduced from 10 minutes to 6 minutes.

The MicroBio MB2-HiFlow uses standard 90 mm Petri dishes and a 400 hole hard-anodised aluminium sampling head, avoiding the expense of proprietary sampling media. Using standard readily available consumables, at low cost with a variety of media, makes the MicroBio MB2-HiFlow an economical instrument to use.
